The history of the productWORKSHOP
THIS GARMENT IS INSPIRED ON THE DESIGN OF THE SMOCKS USED IN THE BICYCLE MECHANICS OF THE TIME.
By the end of the 19th century, mechanics specialised in building and repairing bicycles were appearing in France, most of them trained wheelwrights or locksmiths. As early as 1890, cyclists' unions set up local networks of trusted repairers, providing the best addresses to enable the owner to complete the stage.
However, if a failure occurred on the road, far from any repairer, it was up to the "velocipedist" to fix it. Lucien Petit-Breton, twice winner of the biggest cycling race, often said: "Always carry with you everything you need to repair your machine [...] and practice before the race to make the most complicated repairs in the shortest time".
