The history of the productSOUTH AFRICA 1906

1906 & 1907 MARKED THE SOUTH AFRICANS FIRST TOUR IN THE UNITED KINGDOM AND FRANCE.

It was during this tour that the South African rugby team was first nicknamed the Spring-boks. The team played 29 matches including test matches against the 4 nations of the time, England got a draw, Scotland won. In France the South African players met an unoffi-cial French team (the official team was in the United Kingdom) whose players came from the two Parisian clubs. A heavy defeat for the French camp, 56 to 6 for the Springboks. Paul Roos was the captain of this team whose players came mainly from the "Wes-tern Province".
