AN HOMAGE TO NAMIBIA'S RUGBY TEAM
Sports d'Epoque presents you a jersey in homage to Namibia's rugby team. The team has two nicknames, the Welwitschias in reference to an endemic plant that grows in the Namib desert or Biltongboere (literally, the biltong farmers, dried meat typical of southern Africa).
Before gaining independence in 1990 Namibia played in South Africa's rugged domestic league called the "currie cup". The first years of the National Team were rather satisfactory, with a series of victories against Ireland and Italy in 1991. Qualified for all World Cups since 1999, Namibia with its 2 million inhabitants dominates, admittedly far behind the Springboks, African rugby. Proudly made in France in a traditional way.
