PARIS LONDON
In 1911, G. Matthieu, General secretary for the Stade Français, and his counterpart W.Haycraft of Surrey launched the idea of an annual encounter opposing the best Parisian players against the Londoners.
The only interruption was The Great War, this encounter continued until 1931, when the French were excluded from international competitions. The Capital cities match picked up again after the second world war until 1958. The results are in favour of London with 16 victories for 12 defeats and one draw. From Marcel Communeau (Stade Français) to Yves du Manoir (Racing Club de France), the greatest Parisian players wore the blue and red jersey with the capital’s emblem on it.
Re-issued by Sports d'Epoque, these two team jerseys are proudly made in France.
