The history of the productAEROBIC

IN 1875, PASTEUR INTRODUCED THE WORD "AEROBIC" TO DESIGNATE THE VITAL NEED FOR OXYGEN IN MICROORGANISMS. THE TERM WAS LATER GENERALIZED TO HUMANS

In 1968, after working for the US Air Force, Kenneth Cooper published the results of his research in his book "Aerobics". In it, he describes the influence of physical training on the human body by measuring, for example, the strengthening of the breathing muscles and the heart muscles. In 1970, he created the "Cooper Aerobics Center" in Dallas, which combined several health and wellness facilities.

The book and the example of the center would lead to the birth of a new sport combining gymnastic exercises and choreographies inspired by modern dance on very rhythmic music. Jane Fonda is a pioneer and made aerobics known through programs published worldwide in the form of books and videos. The films Fame (1980) and Flashdance (1983) helped expand aerobics from physical exercise to artistic performance.
