The history of the productLADY OF THE SEA
BORN IN 1890, VIRGINIE HÉRIOT DISCOVERED THE SEA AT 14 DURING HER FIRST CRUISE.
In the 1920s, she purchased a schooner, “Ailée,” where she spent ten months a year. In 1928, she made history by winning the gold medal in sailing aboard Aile VI in Amsterdam. In 1929, she won the French, Italian, and King of Spain Cups.
Nicknamed “Lady of the Sea” by Tagore, Commander Charcot praised her bravery: “Where rugged sailors failed, this delicate woman succeeded.” Regarded by the English as “The greatest yachtwoman in the world,” she died in 1932 from a syncope during the Arcachon regattas. She remains forever an ambassador of the French navy.
