The first South African tour in the U.K. and France (1906-1907)
Paul Roos was the team captain and the players came mainly from the "Western Province"
It was during this tournament that the south African team was named the Springboks for the first time. The team played 29 matches including test matches versus the 4 nations of the time, England got a draw, Scotland went home victorious. In France the South African players faced an unofficial French team ( the official team were in the United Kingdom) so the players were from the 2 Parisian clubs. It was a heavy defeat for the French team, 56 to 6 for the Springboks.
