Wales 1905, the jersey that beat the Blacks
The Welsh Dragons marked the beginning of the century with their achievements. In 1905 the Welsh easily won the triple crown.
The Welsh Dragons entered the 20th century with great exploits. In 1905 the Welsh won the Triple Crown hands down. It was also the first time the All Blacks toured Europe and they had already beaten England, Ireland and Scotland. The two teams came head to head in Cardiff. It was to be a legendary match that the Welsh won 3-0. Before the game the All Blacks performed the haka and the 47,000 strong crowd answered by singing the Welsh national anthem ‘Land of our Fathers’. It was the first time a national anthem was sung before a sporting fixture. Wales’s winger Teddy Morgan scored giving Wales a 3 – 0 lead and later All Black Bob Deans scored a try that was refused. It was to be the only match the All Blacks lost on their 35 match tour. This victory has always been contested in New Zealand due to the refused try by the All Blacks that would have meant a draw. The Welsh obviously feel this victory was the most important in the first golden age of the Red Devils. This legendary jersey is hand-made in France in the original top quality heavy coton.
