The history of the productIZOARD
IZOARD? A BIT OF A STRANGE NAME! THIS PASS WHICH CULMINATES AT 2360 METERS OF ALTITUDE, MARKS THE LINK BETWEEN THE NORTHERN ALPS AND THE SOUTHERN ALPS.
Its fame is due to its very strange Casse déserte, which can be found on the south side, on the Queyras side. Coming from Guillestre, the winding road becomes terribly difficult from Brunissard. Very quickly, the forest disappears and the cyclists discover another planet: the Casse Déserte which offers a strange mineral decor from another world, where all the champions wanted to shine.
At the top of the pass, a plaque pays tribute to Fausto Coppi and Louison Bobet, two heroes who made this pass their obsession. The difficulty of its ascent, which has often separated the champions, made Jacques Goddet say: "The Izoard, this terrible requirement, which establishes the margin of the difficult with the terrifying. It is the privilege of the Izoard to distinguish the champion."
