The first red jersey
The 1st of November 1906, France faces England for their first ever international match.
With the English also playing in white, the French wore their reserve kit, red jersey, blue shorts and red socks. At the Parc des Princes the game ended in a French defeat. Embroidered on the chest and worn by most of the French teams at the start of the last century, we find the two interlaced, red and blue rings that was the symbol of the USFSA. Founded in 1887, L’Union des Sociétés Françaises de Sports Athlétiques was the most influential French sports organisation of the time.
