Here is the jersey of the Union Sportive Athlétique Perpignanaise of 1914
On 3rd May 1914, at the Ponts Jumeaux stadium, the AS Perpignan (the club wasn’t yet called the USAP) established the vitality of the Catalan rugby by becoming French champions.
A narrow victory (8-7) won at the end of the match by beating the rough pyreneans of the Stadoceste Tarbais.(Tarbes)
It was the young fly-half Aimé Giral, only just 19 years old, who converted the victory try from the edge of the field.
It was to be his last match. The 1914-18 war broke out a few weeks later. It would take the lives of seven French champions including Aimé Giral and the first Catalan try scorer of the final, the second row François Nauté. Today the USAP stadium is named after its champion hero.
