In Colombes in 1924, the same as in 1920, the USA became Olympic rugby champions.
They easily beat the French with a solid score of 17 to 3. The athletic superiority of the Americans is obvious.
They say this final was exceptionally violent. It was to be the last rugby match played at the Olympics before rugby was excluded for various reasons, notably violence, professionalism and hooliganism !
Furthermore, it was after a France-USA match in 1919 that Allan Muhr, the France American manager of the French team, declared that rugby was what men did the most efficiently if they didn't have a revolver !
Sports d'époque is looking foward to see the USA at the top of their form in the rugby 7s and rugby union.
